Scone Palace and its grounds — historic crowning place of Scottish kings

Scone Palace

The crowning place of Scottish kings — just 15 miles from the hotel

The Crowning Place of Kings

Scone Palace is one of Scotland's most important historic sites — the place where kings of Scotland were crowned for centuries, including Macbeth, Robert the Bruce and Charles II. For over 1,500 years, Scone (pronounced "Skoon") has been at the heart of Scottish history, and the Stone of Destiny — the ancient coronation stone — was kept here before being taken to Westminster Abbey by Edward I in 1296.

Today, Scone Palace is the magnificent family home of the Earl of Mansfield, surrounded by over 100 acres of stunning grounds, gardens and woodland. Open to visitors from spring to autumn, it offers a fascinating window into Scotland's royal past alongside beautiful grounds perfect for a leisurely afternoon.

Just 15 miles from The Inchture Hotel — around 25 minutes by car — Scone Palace is one of the must-visit attractions in Perthshire. Stay with us and combine your palace visit with a relaxing evening at our Priory restaurant.
