The Best of Dundee

From world-class museums to stunning viewpoints, Dundee has something for everyone.

Scotland's first and only design museum, housed in Kengo Kuma's stunning waterfront building. The V&A hosts world-class exhibitions exploring the past, present and future of design. Free entry to the permanent Scottish Design Galleries, with ticketed touring exhibitions throughout the year.

Discovery Point & RRS Discovery

Step aboard RRS Discovery, the ship that carried Captain Scott and Ernest Shackleton on their famous Antarctic expedition of 1901–1904. The award-winning visitor centre brings the remarkable story to life through interactive displays, original artefacts and immersive experiences.

Dundee Law

An extinct volcanic plug rising 174 metres above the city, Dundee Law offers breathtaking panoramic views over the River Tay, the city, Fife and the distant Highlands. It is an easy walk or short drive to the summit and the war memorial at the top — perfect on a clear day.

Dundee Science Centre

A brilliant day out for families, with over 80 interactive exhibits spread across multiple floors. Little ones and curious adults alike will love the hands-on experiments, science shows and seasonal exhibitions. A fantastic rainy-day option when visiting Dundee with children.

McManus Galleries

Dundee's stunning Victorian Gothic museum and art gallery, beautifully restored and home to eight galleries of art, history and the natural world. Free entry. The building itself — designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott — is worth the visit alone, and the permanent collections are outstanding.

Dundee Rep Theatre

Scotland's only full-time repertory theatre and home to the acclaimed Scottish Dance Theatre. Dundee Rep stages an exciting programme of drama, comedy, music and dance throughout the year, from new Scottish writing to reimagined classics and nationally touring productions.

Verdant Works

Step back in time at this beautifully preserved jute mill, now an award-winning museum telling the story of Dundee's industrial heritage. Discover how jute shaped the city, watch working machinery in action and learn about the people who lived and worked in the mills.

Broughty Ferry Beach & Castle

The charming seaside suburb of Broughty Ferry is home to a beautiful sandy beach, a 15th-century castle (now a museum with free entry), excellent independent shops and some of the best fish and chips in Scotland. A wonderful afternoon out, especially in summer.

Dundee Contemporary Arts

DCA is an internationally renowned centre for contemporary art, featuring two galleries with a year-round programme of free exhibitions alongside an independent two-screen cinema, a print studio, a vibrant café-bar and an excellent shop. A cultural hub in the heart of Dundee.

Shopping, Dining & Nightlife

Beyond its museums and galleries, Dundee is a vibrant city with plenty to explore. Reform Street and the surrounding city centre offer a mix of high-street favourites and independent boutiques, while the Overgate Centre provides undercover shopping in the heart of the city.

For food lovers, Dundee's restaurant scene has blossomed in recent years, with everything from award-winning fine dining to authentic street food. The waterfront area is particularly popular for evening dining, with river views to match the cuisine.

After a day exploring the city, return to The Inchture Hotel for a nightcap by the log fire — all the excitement of Dundee with the peace and quiet of the Perthshire countryside waiting for you at the end of the day.
